This was Samsung's top phone of its generation and the specification still reads that way. The 6.8-inch screen runs at 1440 x 3088, a sharper resolution than almost anything else in this catalogue, which shows in text, photos and video. The rear camera is the real draw: a 108 MP main sensor alongside an ultrawide and two separate telephoto lenses, one of them a periscope, so distant subjects can be brought in close without the smeared look that digital zoom usually gives. The 40 MP front camera is equally unusual for its class. The S Pen is built into the phone itself and slides out of the bottom edge, so there is no separate case or accessory to carry, and it suits note-taking, sketching and precise editing directly on the large screen. A 5000 mAh battery, 8GB of RAM and wireless charging complete a phone built for people who take a lot of photos or want a large, high-resolution screen for reading and video.

Things to consider
At 228 g this is a heavy phone, and the 6.8-inch body is a genuine two-hand device for many people. There is no microSD slot, so the storage chosen at checkout is permanent, and no 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired listening needs an adapter or a Bluetooth set. Samsung's estimated end date for major operating system updates is February 2027, with security patches continuing to February 2028.
Is the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra a good buy?
For anyone who wants flagship hardware without paying flagship money, it is one of the strongest options here. The camera system in particular does things that mid-range phones simply cannot, the built-in S Pen adds a use case no rival at this size matches, and the screen and battery are both excellent. The weight and size will not suit everyone, and the software support window is shorter than a newer flagship would offer. If a big screen and a serious camera are the priority, this remains a very capable phone.
