Things to consider
This is a big, heavy phone: 163 mm tall and 227 g, which rules out comfortable one-handed use and will fill most pockets. There is no microSD slot, so the storage you choose at purchase is permanent, and with a camera this capable the larger capacities fill quickly. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired listening needs an adapter or a Bluetooth set. The front camera stays at 12 MP while the rear lenses have moved on.
Is the iPhone 16 Pro Max a good buy?
If you want the most capable phone available and the size does not put you off, this is it. The camera system covers wide, ultrawide and long-range work properly, the battery outlasts everything else here, and the estimated support dates run further into the future than any other device in the range. The only real objection is the physical size. For anyone who shoots, edits or watches a lot, it is worth the bulk.
