Battery Health Guarantee
Every phone we sell has at least 83% battery health
We check the battery on every phone and tablet before it's listed. If maximum capacity reads below 83%, we replace the battery before the device goes on sale. You never receive a worn-out battery from us.
ON EVERY DEVICE
Why 83% and not 80%?
80% is the most common minimum in Canadian refurbished phones. It's also the point where Apple tells iPhone owners their battery is due for service. A phone that arrives at 80% is already at the edge. We set our floor at 83% so your phone starts with headroom.
| Battery standard | Minimum health on arrival |
|---|---|
| need-a-phone.ca | 83%, or a replaced battery |
| Common refurbished minimum in Canada | 80% |
| Private sale (Marketplace, Kijiji) | No guarantee |
How we test the battery
- We read the battery's maximum capacity with diagnostic tools (on iPhone, the same figure shown under Battery Health).
- We run it through charging and load checks to catch batteries that drain or shut down early.
- If it reads below 83%, or fails a check, we replace it with a new high-quality battery before listing.
- Each device then passes our full inspection and condition grading (Excellent, Good or Fair).
Check it yourself when your phone arrives
iPhone: Settings › Battery › Battery Health & Charging, then read Maximum Capacity.
Samsung Galaxy: Samsung Members app › Support › Phone diagnostics › Battery status.
Google Pixel: Settings › Battery › Battery health (on supported models and Android versions).
If your device shows less than 83% when it arrives, email us at hello@need-a-phone.ca and we'll make it right under our warranty.
Battery questions
Is the battery covered by the warranty?
Yes. Every device carries a 90-day warranty on functional faults, and a battery that fails, swells or drains abnormally is a functional fault.
Will a replaced battery be genuine Apple or Samsung?
Replacement batteries are new, high-quality batteries. On some iPhone models, iOS shows a notice in Settings when a non-Apple battery is fitted. The battery works normally and is covered by our warranty.
What does 83% mean in everyday use?
The battery holds at least 83% of the charge it held when new. For most people that's a full day of normal use on a phone that's still in its software-support window.
Can I choose a phone with a higher battery percentage?
Contact us before ordering and we'll tell you the exact battery health of the units we have in stock for that model.
